State Government Department of Transport

Designed and deployed an AI-powered computer vision and data analytics platform across more than 60 highway cameras to improve visibility of traffic behaviour and support better infrastructure planning.

The solution automatically classified vehicle types including semi-trailers, tankers, car carriers, vans, utes, passenger vehicles and motorbikes, while also tracking how frequently designated rest stops were used and how long vehicles remained there.

Over a 90-day evaluation period, the system generated high-value operational insights through a purpose-built web administration portal featuring live dashboards, interactive reporting, and trend analysis tools.

This enabled the department to make more informed, evidence-based decisions around road safety, freight movement, rest-stop planning, and broader transport network efficiency.

It is one example of how we apply emerging technology in practical, accountable ways to solve complex problems and create measurable public value.
