Grantee Capacity & Capability Building Program
Grantee Capacity & Capability Building Program
Capacity and capability building support is where charities receive professional support to strengthen their organisations
Since we started seven years ago, we have collaborated with more than 30 peak bodies, member-based organisations, fellow intermediaries, government, corporate and philanthropic trusts and foundations.
These partnerships help us better support for-purpose organisations with resources and services, address sector support gaps, and advocate for improved wellbeing outcomes for our sector's workforce.
More recently, we are working with philanthropic foundations looking to better support the charities and social enterprises they care about.
Benefolk's extensive vetting and selection process – as well as our team's deep social sector expertise – sets us apart as a trusted patner to support you and your important stakeholders.
With many charities small - medium in size, this is prized and rare.
Grantmakers are increasingly seeing this as a valuable investment, for example, supporting income diversification, efficiency, sustainability, risk and governance. This support builds on project or core support and can be game changing. But often the question is how to best deploy this support? There’s a lot of moving parts; what kinds of capabilities will be most effective, where to find trusted, relevant support, and how to manage the whole process simply.
Benefolk has designed a process to make this simple for grantmakers so they can easily provide capacity and capability support for their grantees or a cohort / geography / cause area of choice. Benefolk manages the process including design, diagnostic, service choice, service modality (e.g. consulting services or Expert Bar), service agreements, milestones, reporting and evaluation.
Where appropriate, services can be grant-funded through the Benefolk Foundation (DGR1).
"As a young, growing organisation the Benefolk support has had a big impact on Dadfit in a short space of time. It helped us to clarify priorities and make progress on strategy, funding and partnerships. I think it would be valuable for other organisations too."

..a really supportive, helpful, quality program with great organisation behind the program and an excellent range of experts, all of whom deliver so much.
..in the charity sector L&D is often the first thing that get cut from budget. A lot of learning is trial and error or self-learning and the opportunity to have an external, very experienced professional is invaluable.
..I can't imagine a single charity or social enterprise that would not benefit from this program.
..I loved that as a senior exec I could openly talk about my skill gap and have suppport for that without any repercussions.
..new ways of thinking and unlocking our thinking as an organisation.
I could imagine new/more productive ways of doing things.
Generous, detailed, caring, bespoke, truly expert - super useful!
